Parole Rotary and District 7620 club members are truly embodying the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,” through our collaboration with Medicine With a Mission, Connect Rwanda, and Project C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment). Together, we are making a profound impact on global healthcare. Parole Rotary was the beneficiary of ten Project C.U.R.E. kits, each kit containing $2,000 of basic medical supplies and equipment. The kits were offered to any club in the District that had a member going to an under-resourced country for a service trip. The trips did not have to be medically related. When this pilot project is completed, we will have provided $20,000 of medical supplies to under-resourced countries.
We recently received an email from Steve Hayes, a Parole Rotary member, who was still in Rwanda. He shared “I underestimated the need—and the joy—the Project C.U.R.E. kit would bring to hospital staff.”
The medical team at CHUK (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire De Kigali) expressed their deep gratitude, emphasizing how these donated supplies are transforming patient care. The equipment we provided is being used in emergency rooms, minor surgeries, and infection control, ensuring safer procedures and faster patient treatment. Beyond medical care, these supplies also support patient hygiene and reduce waiting times—especially for those in critical need.
Their message is clear: our collective efforts are making a tangible difference. By working together, we are improving lives, strengthening healthcare, and demonstrating the power of service.
This partnership is proof that when we come together, we create lasting, meaningful change. Let’s continue this work and keep living “Service Above Self.”
